Note: When installing these lifters in a small block make sure the push rod is seated in the cup, as shown in photo "A". If you install it, the corner of the snap ring as in photo "B" the snap ring will bend and fall out. This is a common mistake!
The 5003S is the "tightest" clearance hydraulic lifter possible. It is as close as you can get to a mechanical lifter performance and still have the low maintenance of a hydraulic lifter cam. This is the reason they produce the most power. A Tru-Arc retaining ring is used in this Johnson Hy-Lift lifter made in the USA.
Do not use oil heavier than 10W30 oil.
Note: These are not the unreliable "short travel" lifters you hear about. Think of these as very stiff shock absorbers.
