This is something we have offered for years that has not been advertised a lot to the general public. Many of our more "hardcore" customers have been requesting this for their parts and the feedback has been tremendous! We are now offering this procedure to anyone ordering rocker arms for only $125 per kit by ordering p/n "cryo treat rockers". Although our rocker arms are already some of the most reliable in the industry, we are now seeing spring pressures up in the 700#+ range and the cryro treatment has become a real popular option.
Talk about strength! We have a customer using our cryo treated big block rockers with valve spring pressures of 330# on the seat and 725# open, and living! He was afraid he was going to have to go to the #1 or #2 (Jesel/ T&D) best rockers at around $1,000 a set. He had been running some of the racing "Gold" rockers (????) and breaking one every other run down the strip. Not only that, the lash was increasing .004 to .005" every run. Obviously the car was very inconsistent. Finally he decided to "Get Real" Chrysler rockers and our Billet hold down kit (P/N HUG 7442) from us. He reported back to us that after 35 runs he has not broken a single rocker and the lash had changed less than .001". The car is now running within .04 of second every run. Now that is consistency!
NEW CUSTOMER UPDATE 07/22/08: D.G of Belle Plaine, KS called us this morning to report he now has nearly 600 passes on his cryo treated 1.5 rocker arms and that they looks like new. "I love them!"
To say he was pleased with our rocker arm kit is an understatement! And we are only #3!!!!!
Below is a brief descrition of what Cryo treating does. This is the same process used by NASA, Nascar teams and many other heavy duty & industrial applications.
It is a dry process. Liquid nitrogen is converted to a gas before it enters the chamber so that at no time does liquid nitrogen come in to contact with the parts assuring that the dangers of cracking from too rapid cooling are eliminated. The part is slowly lowered to approximately 300 below zero by state of the art computer controlled processors. Once at the desired temperature the product is held at that temperature for a specific amount of time bfore it is slowly brought back to room temperature.
Cryo treatment not only means tougher rocker arms it can also means longer engine life, higher horsepower and less breakage when used throughout the engine. This one-time irreversible treatment improves the entire structure, not just the surface, giving your engine stability only found previously in seasoned engines.
This increases the performance and life of all of the treated parts. Deep Cryogenic Tempering creates a significant increase in abrasive wear resistance and durability. The increase in tensile strength, toughness and stability may couple with the release of internal residual stresses.
Cryo Processing in the motorsports division provides greater stress relief and dimensional stabilization, increased wear resistance and durability, faster engines, and a competitive edge against non-treated engines.

UPDATE...UPDATE....UPDATE..... Nov. 2007
We just talked to this customer again and he reports that the car has made 273 passes with our rocker arms this season. He only adjusted the lash 3 times throughout the entire season! And now, with his season over he is doing a routine inspection of all of his engines internal components and was very impressed to find that all of the rocker arm system looks brand new. Keep in mind, 330# seat pressure, 725# open pressure, 7500 RPM shifts and 273 passes and these babies look as fresh as the day he installed them! Now thats a testimoninal you can bank on!
Look at this like buying health or life insurance. You buy it, and hope you never need it. If you never break, never have a problem, it did its job. |
